I could not afford a XM radio subscription at the time so that radio sat in a box in my closet for about 9 months. i bought this radio around april 2009, amazons suppliers were having a fire sale at the time, i wonder why. i hooked up the radio 1 time after i received it to see if it works, and it did. now on jan. 20 2010 i decided to get a XM subscription and the radio does not work, I can only hope that audiovox will honor their 1 year warranty.
We were never able to use the receiver because our satellite subscription was originally with Sirius and they required a Sirius receiver (even though both have now merged). In addition, and most appreciated, the company took it back even though it had been purchased in October and given as a Christmas gift. We had to return this item for that reason, but it certainly was nice looking---better than most factory installed items. It arrived quickly in excellent condition. I value working with a company that treats me well and praise their help with this matter. I will definitely shop with 6th Avenue Electronics again.
I had originally put the antennae on the roof, but later tried just having it on the dashboard. I was looking for an inexpensive way to be able to get the Radio Classics salletite radio station for when I am riding in my car. The reception was just as good. I checked out the reviews for this receiver and decided to give it a try. It was very easy to install. I really enjoy being able to take long day trips and not having to switch to the stations local to that area. I would definitely purchase this product again.
I got this for my new Honda Civic, it works perfectly. It's super easy to use, I like that it isn't permanent, I can take the whole unit (holder included) off of the car in less than a minute and throw it in the glove box so no one steals it. With the aux jack the car comes with I don't have to wire anything, just plug it in and play. I don't even put the antenna on the outside of the car, just sit it on my dash, I've been using it for months with perfect reception (the only place I have spotty reception is when I go behind a mountain, and my hardwired XM in my Accord lost reception there as well). The pausing feature is great, no more missing any part of O&A while talking on the phone or going through a drive through or whatever. On top of everything else, it's a great price.
This is a great product. I tivo at home and this is a dream come true. Easy to use lots of great features never thought I would use or need a remote in the car but use it all the time.
